On short deadline and tight budget, Third Wing Team re-engineered programs and modernized brand identity for Florida cooperative.CASE HISTORY – HESCO Trailer Tracker
HESCO is a supplies procurement and provision cooperative located in Central Florida. HESCO approached Third Wing to redesign Trailer Tracker, proprietary software that enables its staff, customers and related service providers to view current shipments of supplies at any point in the process. Unfortunately, the software had become unusable due to short-term, “band-aid” fixes to the system. The client had had some disappointing experiences with local technical advisors brought in to help with application support and development. In addition, the client did not want to spend a lot of money to return the software to the originally conceived form. Also, the seasonality of HESCO’s business cycle required a re-launch of Trailer Tracker in just eight weeks.
Third Wing assembled a team of skilled resources to work on the Trailer Tracker project, including George Bates, BMC for design and Smartsourcing Global for custom software development. Rather than apply another “band-aid” fix, the team interviewed stakeholders in the project to uncover the business logic for a revised system that would meet everyone’s needs. At the same time, the team saw an opportunity to upgrade HESCO’s public-facing look and feel, integrating a more polished brand identity within the site.
1. Re-engineer an existing software program that had lost its functionality through previous ‘fixes’
2. Satisfy several stakeholders with differing needs
3. Upgrade and modernize the “brand” as reflected in the site
4. Work within limited budget and time frame constraints
The project was delivered on time and under budget. What’s more, the new software was easy to use and understand, both inside and out of the company. The new interface and brand identity also became a starting point for other marketing materials, including a new company website.
HESCO subsequently has retained Third Wing to work with them on their website redesign, branding efforts and marketing programs for products within their catalog.
